I bought a '93 Cobra reman from Ford for my '66 and I want to paint it the correct engine color. It came in black. I looked at my other cars, but can't really determine the color, but haven't crawled under them. I believe the correct color is gray, but just want to verify that.
Thanks

Well, disregard my statement then. Guess I'm just nuts!

(makes note to look more closely at engine)

Oil pans are painted though, right? I believe my oil pan is black.

The oil pan and valve covers are black....... the heads and block are natural cast (ie unpainted). The timing cover and water pump are natural aluminium.

Thanks guys for all the input. Since the motor is already black, I guess I'll paint it gray to mimic a bare metal paint. I've got some bare metal paints, but they aren't the high temp type. Can't wait to go zoom, zoom! Well, within reason... gotta watch out for our finest out there.

I was shocked when I first saw that the engine was unpainted. WTF was Ford thinking?
