Looking for some help. I was told many years ago that being awarded the Combat "V" entitled you to 2.5% more on retirement pay. I have been looking and haven't been able to find anything closely related.

Anyone past or present that can shed some light on this?

Never heard of that either. However, I have heard that for national guard and reserve soldiers they can draw a 20 year reserve retirement 1 year earlier for every year spent in a combat zone. I think the current age you are allowed to draw is around 60, so if that reserve/ng service member served 3 total years in theater then they can draw a 20 year retirement (if they qualify for a 20 year) at the age of 57.

It's been about 10 years ago that I was told this but never looked into it before now. I asked the gentleman that did up my 214 and he had no clue. He hadn't even ever put a combat "V" on a 214.

Thanks for the input.
