Hey guys, this is a wierd one so any help will be appreciated. My girlfriend goes to UC San Diego and she got ticketed for having an expired sticker on her license plate. Thing is, she got ticketed for this by the UC police (not sure if theyre actually police) while her car was parked since the date her sticker expired so here is the first question,

Can she be ticketed for having a late sticker if her car has been parked since the date she has been ticketed?

Also, I thought this was a fix it ticket but the ticket she was issued was a straight out fine so the second question is,

Is it a fix-it ticket or can she be straight out fined?

Also, she had wanted to drive her car back for christmas break, but originally could not because of the late sticker, but now that she has been ticketed for this,

Is there a time period where she cannot be ticketed for the same offense twice even though the people who issued her the ticket was the college "police"?

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

The UCSD Police Department is empowered pursuant to section 830.2 (b) of the California Penal Code and fully subscribes to the standards of the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). UCSD Police Officers have peace officer authority anywhere in the State of California.

They are F/T Sworn L.E.O.s in the state of California. She should have been ticketed under the Cali. Code.

She should call the number on the ticket and ask the clerks office if it is a fix it ticket or not.
Just because the car was parked doesnt mean she doesnt have to comply with the the M.V. code as to registration, etc.

She knew she had a problem and decided not to address it, now she must address it in a timely fashion.

If she is stopped again, or the registration goes delinquent by more than one year the vehicle can be impounded. As pointed out, campus police are fully-sworn LEO's so she needs to take the citation very seriously.

Was it a parking ticket or was it and actual vehicle code violation? Plenty of places have parking violations that include parking a vehicle with expired registration.

I love when people try to say they were just College police.... locked up is locked up... it is all about being Sworn!!!! Which they are.

Don't dismiss something because you think they are not the Po-lez~
