Code P1227 Wastegate Failed Closed (Over Pressure) - What's it mean?

I've had the dreaded wrench light twice in the past 3 weeks. Power instantly cut and I can only limp the car to safety. Both times after turning car off and back on the light is gone and the car runs fine. Each time I was lower rpms ~ 3000rpm and had just attempted to accelerate moderately to pass.

Any ideas what to check?

P1227 - Wastegate Failed Closed (Over Pressure) Description:

This DTC sets when the boost pressure is continuously higher than desired.

Possible Causes:
Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve
Mass airflow (MAF) sensor
Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor
Supercharger bypass actuator stuck closed
Supercharger

Diagnostic Aids:
This DTC is informational only and may be accompanied by other DTCs. Diagnose other DTCs first.

Application
Key On Engine Off
Key On Engine Running
Continuous Memory

All

Well that's a list to diag. Car runs fine otherwise only on these 2 occasions did it throw wrench light. I've got a Whipple 2.9L so the bypass valve / bypass valve actuator are also Whipple not OEM correct?
