Interesting comment from youtube:

i keep seeing alot of comments about having wheelie bars and stuff and i just wanted to clear this up, the owner of this car is my uncle i was there that day. his slicks still kept loosing traction and burning so a man there with bigger slicks said use mine and he did not anticipate that the car would grab THAT much, so he didnt have wheelie bars because his slicks didnt make him do a wheelie. its only when he swapped his slicks with bigger ones that day at the track.

looked like factory wheel/tire combo to me

Me too.

Bottom line IMO,
The class they are designed to run does not allow wheelie bars.
It is not unheard of for cars in stock or super stock classes to put it on the bumper when everything goes right.

Driver either lacked the experience on knowing what to do or went into complete panic mode.

I've never had one come all the way on the bumper but have had some come up really high.
The first time even with some time under the belt is a very strange feeling.

I don't know anything about the classes, but why not allow wheelie bars? Seems like a no brainer to the uneducated drag racer....
