Just a quick thought here - check the clutch cable and it's adjustment down on the transmission. I had problems with not being able to shift gears at high rpm in my car, and it turned out to be an old, worn out clutch cable. It engaged the clutch enough to shift at lower rpms but not high and under load. Check the quadrant down on the clutch pedal assembly and the cable on the transmission and replace it if it doesn't look good.

I put the steeda adjustable quadrant and cable on my car and not a single problem since.
