Clutch Master Leaking Inside Car

I have to replace my clutch master cylinder and clean up the mess in the car. I was told by the mechanic that the master cylinder leak could be sign of a problem with the clutch causing high pressure in the system. Anybody have any experience with this?

Thanks

There won’t be any higher pressure than when you’re pushing the pedal, which the system is obviously designed for.

Now if for some reason your clutch fork couldn’t move while you’re pressing the pedal, you’d have higher than normal pressure. Typically it would just bypass internally though.

This is likely just an age/wear failure.

The rear seal where the rod goes in shouldn’t be seeing pressure. The seal on the piston failed and it’s seeping out the back.

99% you just need a new clutch master unless you felt extremely heavy pedal pressure leading up to this.

@MG0h3 Thanks for the info. Not feeling any excessive pressure on the pedal. I will just replace the cylinder then. Seems odd this would wear out at 27k miles though, but I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.
