clutch cable not seated on firewall adjuster

Like the title says i ordered new clutch cable i installed it and it doesnt want to sit flush on the firewall adjuster any ideas? i thought maybe the piece of clear tubing that goes over black piece of cable is to long but not real sure what to do, i can move cable around to make it work but then it springs back and i have it bolted down exactly like the orignal one was

Are you talking about the white plastic part not seating flush up against the blue firewall adjuster ??

ya thats what i am talking about but if i flex the cable it will sit flush but then springs back
