I just tried out my newly rebuilt T56 (with 3/4 faceplated) on the dragstrip. The 2/3 powershift was perfect and amazing while 3/4 grinded badly every time. I am trying to figure out if there's something wrong with the tranny or if its something else. Some people are telling me I need more air gap. But this didn't make sense to me. So I've been reading up on it, and there seems to be two conflicting modes of thinking: one says that air gap is critical, should be measured, set w/ a pedal stop, etc. Then the other says that you'll go right into the next gear by just jabbing the clutch pedal to take some load off the tranny, even though the clutch isn't completely disengaged. Am I crazy or is this contradictory?
