The 03 Convert I recently finished has a "clunk" when you shift gears during normal acceleration. If you short shift and keep below 2000rpm, it does not happen, but give it some throttle or shift quickly, and it happens every time.

This car has 163K miles and I suspect everything in the rear end is original. What goes bad and can cause this?

Thanks,

Worn diff bushings, ujoints. Also excess backlash between the ring/pinion cause by worn carrier bearing and/or pinion bearings.

Yep mine had it from day one till I rebuilt/upgraded everything. Years ago there was a thread Red pill and Blue Pill and it was some of the best info on this.
