Change it to:

Wash with car wash
Clay
Deep Crystal
Two coats NXT

I don't see any advantage to topping with a carnauba or spray wet wax.

wash w/deep crystal or dawn 1st?

the guy that owns the car, wants it buffed. i have buffed many times before, but only mine or family vehicles.

only wash with dawn once or twice a year

But mine once a year method is...

1. Wash w/ dawn
2. Zaino clay bar
3. Wash w/ Zaino
4. One coat of Zaino Z-5
5. One coat of Zaino Z-8 spray
6. One coat of Zaino Z-2
7. One coat of Zaino Z-8 spray
8. One coat of Zaino Z-2
9. One coat of Zaino Z-8 spray

Every wash it gets the Z-8 spray after the wash, and it gets a coat of Z-5 then Z-2 once a month

thanx but i dont have the Zaino kit

i am detailing a '02 Mustang GT. the owner was specific steps used.

1. wash w/dawn (to remove all old wax)
2. claybar w/Mothers
3. wash w/Mothers Gold Glass
4. buff (i cant remember the name?)
5. apply 2 coats of Meq. NXT wax
6. 2 coats of Eagle 1 spray wet wax

these are the products he brought me to use. anyone see anything you dont like, or suggest something diff. basically the best products you buy from the "Ole Wally World. i told him the charge would be the same if i used my own products, but he wants me to use what he brought.

your thoughts/comments welcome....:buffing:

i want

1. wash w/Mothers
2. claybarw/Mothers
3. buff/polish
4. 2coats of Meq. NXT wax

i am out of my usual polish, anyone have a alternative that i could get from Autozone, Advance Auto, Napa, O'Rielly's?

dont bother to use dawn soap. It is bad for the paint and between the claying and the buffing that will remove all the old wax.

Just do what he wants. With those products, it won't make much of a difference anyways. He has already been specific with products and process, so just do what he says.

your thoughts......

Like they said
1. wash with a good car wash---you need the lubrication to remove the dirt without scratching th paint
2. clay the car, make sure you're using enough lube to keep the clay gliding across the paint
3. when you say buff I assume you mean you're going to use a polish. you won't need to strip the wax with a harsh soap the polish is abrasive enough to remove the wax on its own. Just make sure you're not using an overly aggressive polish and the correct pad. FYI in case you didn't know, waxing a car only makes t shinier, it offers no correction to imperfections in the paint.
4. You'll only need 1-2 coats of wax. Anymore and it's probably overkill. You can do the NXT then a carnuba, don't know how much difference you'll see. Personally I'd just do the carnuba, whatever you decide to do be patient and take your time.

i finally convinced him the Dawn was not a good choice. so he told me to use my best judgment. then he brings me the Mequires 3 step Deep Crystal cleaning system. so now here are my steps which will start early in the morning.

1. wash w/Meq. Deep Crystal carwash
2. claybar using Meq.
3. 1st step in the process paint cleaner (apply w/buffer bout 1000rpm, remove by hand)
4. 2nd step polisher (apply w/buffer bout 1000rpm, remove by hand)
5. 3rd step carnuba wax (apply w/buffer bout 1200rpm, remove by hand)
6. apply the NXT paste wax (he wants it last, apply w/buffer bout 1200rpm, remove by hand)
7. REST!!!!!!!!!

NOW...your thoughts on this process.....

with the polish, depending on your pad choice, I would use a white pad and polish at the highest speed possible. It won't be as aggressive as a compound so you won't mar the paint. Just don't apply pressure on the buffer. with a wax you can use at the lowest speed possible, the wax won't need to be broken down like a polish would.

i dont really know the name? i bought it at Northern Tool. it weighs bout 15lbs. i dont really use any pressure, just the weight of the buffer. i think i used a yellow pad on all steps

if by yellow pads you mean the roughest pad I wouldn't do that. For just light swirls you don't need a heavy cutting pad. Yellow pads are used more so for heavy oxidation.
