The gas mileage comment had nothing to do with cost. Its a matter of being annoying. Case in point, me and few friends go for a cruise/fun-run. We can't go more than 100 miles with cruising/playin-around because all of my buddies in the E85/Meth Z06s physically run out of fuel. It gets annoying have to fuel the car up twice as often and also to be tied to ethanol, which isn't as widely available as people may think.

They don't have a Flexfuel option where you can run either one?

The reason you want E85 on any motor is if the cylinder pressure or timing exceeds what 93 octane can handle. Hence why boosted cars love E85, you have the ability to control the increase in cylinder pressure via pounds of boost. On the other hand a N/A motor cylinder pressure basically stays the same and there is only so much timing you can add to effectively make power. For this argument we are not rebuilding the engine and keeping the compression ratio OEM spec, if you rebuild with higher compression ratio pistons then there are gains to be had from E85.

One more fun little upgrade.

I always felt like the catted Belanger setup was amazing in tone, and the perfect sound level at WOT. The only thing I wished was that it would give me a bit more chop at idle now that the car was HC (the cats really mute out the idle chop). That, and I've always wanted the possibility of spitting flames on fools on the freeway LOL. So on a whim, we got Lou to ship out their new 3" catless setup to replace my existing 2.5" catted system.

I've run Belangers on my last 3 Vipers and no other exhaust sounds like it on these cars, just really enjoy their smooth bellowy sound. After pulling the new setup of the box I could see there had been some worthwhile improvements to their kit. First off, they've really stepped up the overall build quality of the system, and I particularly like their novel secondary 02 bung placements--right at the tip exits. They did this for 2 reasons; (1) it is the only location that welding a bung into the free stream doesn't take away the cross sectional area (still full 3" there), and (2) It let's you tuck up all of the 02 extensions up into the chassis and keep them away from the high heat areas, only getting anywhere close to the exhaust at the outlets. Secondly, I like how they've integrated the mid-pipes into the catback itself, just one less connection to make/worry about.

In for surgery;

All buttoned up, here's a quick vid, the car is still not warmed up so its on a high idle (hasn't settled into the full chop yet). A few quick revs to 3k rpm. Car is MUCH louder, but still maintains that belanger tone that I like. I didn't get an opportunity to drive it yet as a storm rolled in directly after we took the idle vid. Will report back on whether its obnoxious or not, and whether or not I can actual smell the loss of cats (which is honestly my largest concern).

Car sounds SICK! I've had a few gen 2 & 3 vipers a couple with exhaust and the sound was always lacking...yours is not. Nice!

I have no idea, I never look at tread ratings. I can tell you I squeezed about 10,000 miles out of my R888s last go-around with A LOT of racing (but no burn-outs, dumb shit, etc).
Was wondering about the r888s...i have Pirelli p zeros now and they suck. Car spins all 4 tires like crazy. What are your thoughts on the r888s?

Scored a set of TA 2.0 extensions from Santa this year so I was anxious to get them mounted. One thing I don't like about the oem extensions was that they are just as-molded plastic in finish, and look a bit off up against the nice carbon splitter bodies. So i decided to wrap them to get some texture on them--I figured it'd look hit or miss, but was willing to give it a shot. There were 2 real options for gloss carbon wrap material, one 3M and the other some no-name brand. The no name brand looks exceptional, very glossy, hard to tell apart from the real deal with a glance, but I'd heard from installers that it's thin, and would get destroyed easily on a high traffic area (read: Front end). So I decided to go with a thicker, proven material, the 3M-DINOC. Its their "gloss carbon", but the gloss doesn't come close to matching the oem cleared fiber.

Disassembly of the oem splitters is painless with a safety torx bit and some elbow grease.

Mocking up the new extensions before prepping for wrap. Looks good :)

Molded plastic has a poor surface finish and wont bond well with the 3M, so we decided to sand the splitters;

Sanded and cleaned, a small jig was made to bolt the splitters into. This allows for a nice stable surface to wrap and stretch properly over the edges.

Overall, I should of sprayed some clear over the 3M to add more gloss, but I was impatient and just bolted them on. Regardless, I really like how it came out, makes the front end more aggressive.

Looks good.

I think I would've left them just the raw plastic if you couldn't get the carbon to match.

EDIT: And really the only reason I say that, is I went through the same predicament when I made my ACR-E lookalike front splitter for my Gen IV and ended up leaving it raw plastic since I couldn't find a wrap to match the factory.

Also had the car dyno'd again after putting a few miles on it.

Was very happy with the delta, and it corroborates what the seat of the pants feel is--that there is TONS more power on the top end now. Dyno room conditions were within 5* ambient of the previous bolt-on run, and numbers are SAE, per usual. Costco's finest pump 93 fuel :).

Look at the way the power keeps on after 6k relative to the stock cam;

Reading your thread really inspired me to be more detail oriented with my vehicles.

Random question, any regrets for going from your Gen 4 to this Gen 5? Aside from the interior, what are the differences in chassis and drive train that you have noticed?
