Hey guys,

I am looking to change the spark plugs in my 04 lightning. The how-to section had a piece on how to change them but the link has gone bad i believe. I can't remove the supercharger (long story). But i was wondering if there was anyway you could link me to doing this without having to remove the SC. I think i'm fixing to order a tuner from Amazon and i was just curious about if i do get it tuned should i cap the Spark plugs different?

I would get with your tuner to verify what you should gap your plugs to. If you're running more boost it may be a good idea to run a colder plug.
As far as changing the plugs go, I'm pretty sure you can pull the throttle body of for more access.
These worked for me.....

If you do pull the blower you might as well go ahead and clean your intercooler while your at it..

Yes.

Oh and BTW do pull the blower off. Changing plugs on a L is otherwise a straight up bitch to do.

what pulley are you installing? NGK TR6 plugs .032-.034 gap is the norm for 4-6lb pulleys

+1, depends on your mods at where you should gap them too.

I can do spark plug changes in no time. it takes doing them a few times and then it's not so bad.

If your trucks has some miles on it, taking the SC off (which isn't hard at all) and cleaning the intercooler and turkey pan will be a great idea. Also go ahead and cap that rear vac plug at the back/bottom of the turkey pan.

Yeah changing the plugs is a bitch, but truly i think everyone should do it at least once. Its like having sex for the first time except a lot more painful.

+1 on checking with your tuner and clean the area and then blow out the area with an air hose.Put some tubing on the end of your air gun and then stick it down in there. A lot of gunk builds up in that area for some reason.

Yeah, we pulled it off once be the previous owner put lock tight on the bolts so we ended up breaking a bolt in the intake. But I'm going to replace the pulley with a 6lb pulley that's why I was curious

Sex the first time was a hell of allot quicker!!!!!

I gave my 99 F150 to my kid and he installed a body lift (We both dont like the body lifts, but what the heck) but dang, the plugs are so much easier to change! So I was thinking of installing a body lift on the lightning and then lowering it?????

No not really!

Changing plugs isn't that hard with the right tools - it's just time consuming the first time. Just make sure you're not under any time constraints and take your time and you'll be fine. I've never removed anything when changing plugs - just unplugged the injectors for a little more room.
