The fluid in my intercooler is orange/red (04 cobra) - ~12yrs ago the last owner had mentioned he took a rock through the intercooler so I'm wondering if he used dexcool when he repaired it....

I'm not certain if I should just leave it for another 12yrs or change it; if change, assuming it is dexcool, any advice on how to make sure the system is fully cleaned out to use Ford Gold? Or just assume it's dexcool and use dexcool?

Drain it all out. Then put straight water in it. Run it drain it out. If you have to do this a few times. If your engine has gold I’d put gold in your intercooler so you don’t have one gold one green. Gold should be changed more often if can be corrosive. Not a fan of dexcool either.
