cast iron short headers

So appapparently one of my stock exhaust manifolds is crack, I'm thinking that I could've bought the car like that and never notice that till yesterday when I started to hear a loud ticking noise. The only leak found at the muffler shop was coming from the manifold. Has anyone has run into this problem before? Also is anyone in here running cast iron ford racing shorty headers? If so is there any power difference between the two?

Those are the only ones that ford racing offers, they are really cheap. And I don't feel like dropping 500 on a set of shorties.
