Just like the topic states, I'm looking for established case law in reference to officer's running traffic while "hiding", or what a driver may refer to as hiding.
This isn't pertaining to anything that happened to me. I was just curious if there were any established cases stating what an officer can and can't do in a marked unit while running traffic. There is none that I can think of, so I brought this question to the Donut Shop to ask.
The situation is now taken care of, but I had run into a situation where someone had tried to tell me that running traffic at night from a parking lot with all of your lights off was not allowed. As stupid and idiotic as it sounds, I know, I was looking for anything out there that might have been ruled on by the higher courts pertaining to this. I had never heard of anything like this, and before I laid the smackdown on this individual I wanted to search every avenue possible.
Here they sit in the middle of the expressway with no lights on. I don't know if it is illegal or not, but even if it was illegal it would be your word against theirs
re cops required to use their lights? If not, how is the issue of speeding in a police car dealt with?

Are (U.S.) police required to use their lights when speeding to an emergency or other call of duty?
.
Did you read the OP's post? Your response does not address his question :dw:
Why do people think that the police have to give them a fair chance of evading detection if they're breaking the law? I mean, really?
