Carbon Fiber Hood & Hood Struts

Ordered a Carbon Fiber Hood and having it installed. My car currently has the Redline Quicklift Elite hood struts, but using them with the CF hood is causing bowing. Haven't seen much about anyone using hood struts with CF hoods, and wondered if anyone had any recommendations.

Don't want to go back to using the old fashion hood prop as I have had a custom designed radiator cover installed, and don't want to drill into it.

Appreciate any suggestions!

Call Redline ai believe they have different struts for fiberglass hoods with less internal pressure.

So I checked out Redline. I sent them an email very late last night, and the owner responding very quickly.

Then this is the following up email that I got from them this morning:

We stand behind our products 100%, if you ever have an issue we will make
it right and if we can't, we will refund your money. Our system will NOT
bow your hood and let me explain why:

Other hood lift systems use very short gas springs that are mounted very
close to the hood hinge pivot point. Simple physics will tell you the
closer you are to the hinge point the more force you need to raise the
hood. Also, with the "other" systems when the hood is closed their gas
springs sit with a slight upward angle. This angle combined with the
higher spring force due to the inefficient mounting position is what
causes the hoods to bow.

Our Hood QuickLIFT system is designed to be much more efficient because of
optimal mounting geometry. If you look at our design we use much longer
gas springs and mount at the middle point of the hood. This allows us to
use a much lower force gas spring because we are further away from the
hood hinge pivot point. Also our mounting angle is optimized so that when
the hood is closed the gas springs sit perfectly horizontal which puts no
stress on the hood.

We have been designing our Hood QuickLIFT systems for over 13 years and
are very proud of our designs, if there are any other questions I can
answer for you, please ask.

Regards,
Andreas

Looks like a canned response and that they did not really read into your application and issue.

I see how you could get that impression. This email was his response to my direct question about the struts causing bowing to my CF hood and if they did - I assumed that I could return them for a full refund.

I guess the time will tell - the struts are on order and we will see if there are any issues after install.

Not a canned response as I wrote this personally. As I stated in the response above, our QuickLIFT system will not bow the hood from the pressure of the gas springs as they sit perfectly horizontal when closed putting NO upward pressure on the hood.
