Stationed in Japan back in 87 and coming home real late. Have to work the next day and it's already 4:30 in the morning. Hit a guard rail and rolled the car a couple times. Kicked the door open and walked away without a scratch.

I wrecked my 89gt by rear ending a stalled car on the freeway. I locked up the brakes at about 70 mph. It was night time, the car was parked in the middle of the lane with no hazards on, and I didn't see it until it was too late. The other driver was standing in front of the car I hit. The aftermath is what made it the worst wreck. The other driver had no license and no insurance and the car wasn't hers. I had a lot of money into that car and only got 3500 in uninsured motorist money. Oh yeah, I wasn't at fault according to the insurance company.

My brother walked away from a car that ended up catching fire, after it hit a light post backwards and the gas tank was punctured. The car rolled and he had to kick the door out. He wasn't the driver. I think his is worse.

Riding in my friends 55 Chevy that didn't have seatbelts. We were on a 3 lane Highway, us in the middle lane. The car in the lane left to us started to come over so my friend went to hit the breaks, got the gas instead..guy clipped the front end of my friends car and caused us to start spinning. Half way through the spin a 3rd vehicle hit the passenger side door I was sitting next to that caused us to spin the other direction and also caused the door to open up. Centrifugal force threw me out across the highway at about 80mph. 120 feet later I came to a stop, clothes were shredded off my body..along with a majority of my skin. At the hospital they had to scrub me down with a brush that looked like something you would use to scrub a toilet to get asphalt chunks out of my skin. 5 stitches over my right eye and a fractured wrist. The worst part was the gause they put on my ass and back. It stuck to me and I spent 12 hours soaking in a bathtub trying to get it to come off, no dice. My dad had to come in there and rip it off my body. I had never seen my dad cry until that day. Which reminds me....if I ever see the nurse that put that shit on me Im going to break her neck...in more than once place...as slow as possible.

Going back to my dorm driving in a miserable down pour, a jerk fighting with his gf, (with a suspended LISC) decided to PARK in the left lane of the busiest interstate, oddly enough the spot which he chose is at the bottom of a long sweeping turn, and is called "malfunction junction" because of the number of accidents that occur there. Well this tool caused a 4 car pile up, which culminated in me rear ending a saturnafter sliding 150ft. Think Grand tourismo when you take the turns way to hot and go sliding into the wall in slow mo. I was uninjured, my future gf busted her thumb. Even better tho, was the driverside fender was pushed into the door, jambing it so I crawled out the window- then the *^&%&^&%(^*%(& tow truck driver creased the door getting into the car after I TOLD HIM it was JAMBED, I about killed several people that night. To top it off- I was considered at fault in the eyes of teh insurance comp. So after taking it royally with 5K for the saturn that was totaled and something close to 10K to fix my car, the bastard I hit sued me for loss of enjoyment of life injuries etc. So yea after settling for 12K for his pain (it was a bloody scratch, I guarantee he aint in no wheel chair) and 15K for his medical bills I own a 60K cobra- (I paid 23k!) now throw in one unrelated speeding ticket, and add that I was a 19 yo guy and you could imagine what my rates were gonna be- so I've been walking a lot lately at least until I hit 25. I really hate the way things work soemtimes. :kaboom:

I was in DC getting onto the beltway and was run into the jersey wall sitting between the on ramp and the highway by a guy changing lanes into me ... Those things are designed to keep the car away from the main roadway in an accident which is why they have a curve up from the bottom. I caught that curve with the front bumper and flipped .. end over end three times before coming to a stop on the roof. I crawled out the drivers side window ... and waited for the cops .. of course no one else bothered to stop and the guy that caused it went on his merry way oblivious to what he caused.

oh .. the car? a 1989 Ford Escort four door hatchback.

What I changed as a result? I now keep my car interior clean... when you are rolling you get a lesson real quict that tools, empty macdonalds cups and other assorted ash and trash do NOT feel good hitting you about the head and shoulders ... LOL

I will never say anything bad about the Ford Escort *heh*

Slid into the back of a bronco in a parking lot totalling my 88 Turbo coupe. I would post pics of my buddy(who wasn't so lucky) old orange vibe from a offset impact with a greyhound. The right side of the car is intact, they opened one of the doors to get him out, but anything 3 inches to the left in mangled garbage. It will sober anyone up.

my worst accident: hit the back of a 80's f-150 at 10mph in a hs parking lot. Total repair bill for my mx-6 = 87$ his repairs 600$. (he lied about previous damage and stuck me with the bill).

My accident is similiar to hotrod03's.

July 1990, taking my 90GT up to the beach. While on the highway, I'm in the far left lane, and all of a sudden, traffic in front of me is swerving to the right real hard. I see an old man has gotten a flat tire, and decided to stop in the left lane and change it, and a lady has stopped in the middle lane to offer to help him. So two out of three lanes are blocked. On my left is jersey barriers, and on my right is an 18 wheeler. I'm f**ked!!!!

Skidded 180 ft, and still stuffed both cars from the rear. The guy with the flat tire, his car ended up on the barriers almost over the other side of the highway, and the lady, her's was just the left rear quarter. A fourth car then skidded into hers moments later. Somehow no one was injured, just minor bumps and bruises from flying debris.

Insurance found ME at fault, rear end collision, young kid (23 at the time) with his friends, sports car, speeding, etc. Got 6 points on my insurance, lost my deduct., had to pay for a rental, etc. Sucked big time.

The happy ending though is I spent the next year and a half fighting it, got maps of the highway from the DPW, took pictures, got witnesses, and fought it all the way to the insurance appeals board in Boston. Had my day before the board, and two weeks later got their decision, NOT GUILTY

Ended up getting my surcharges, deductable, rental costs, everything back PLUS interest. Came up to like $3000. Insurance company ended up giving me a year and a half credit on my ploicy.

Mine was on St. Patricks day about 10 years ago.... I was coming home from hanging out with friends. We had a few drinks, but nothing major. I wasn't even close to drunk.... I was driving. we were in my buddies full size chevy and heading east on Kennedy, when a driver in another full size truck takes a left at a light... right in front of me......coming from the other direction. It happened so fast that I didn't have time to hit the brakes. We slammed into each other head on and the truck I was in slid 180 feet past the intersection. They couldn't find the front left tire. I was doing the speed limit too.(around 50) My Girlfriend was unconsious when the paramedics came. I picked up the rear view mirror off of the dash to look at my face and I was covered in blood. I took out the side window, I think the wing window and hit the front winshield as well.....they were picking glass out of my head for about 25 minutes. None of us were wearing seatbelts either.....(that was dumb.)

not the worst here....but bad enough for me.

Was cruisin with some buddies on our bikes down the freeway. We were all going back and forth pulling the front up when my throttle stuck. I went straight back onto my ass which I flew so fast that I ended up sliding face first for close to 200 yards. Thank god i was wearing my helmet at the time otherwise my face would of blended in with the cement. Overall I broke my ankle and wrist, and had a severe bruise to my tailbone. I havent tried to do another wheelie to this day.

Mine was in the explorer, driving about 55-60 mph going on an off-ramp and a tire blew out, think it was front left. the truck had a faulty sdway bar link bolt (found out later when a crash investigator inspected the vehicle) That caused the truck to have excess body roll which caused me to start rolling on the ramp and down into a ravine. The guy behind me said it was like a nascar wreck and that I rolled 8 or 9 times with parts and pieces flying all over the place. The truck landed right side of and the top of the truck was resting on my shoulder. I had some cuts and abrasions and a cracked rib. I was very lucky. Some of your guys accidents with headon stuff is pretty scary.

Got a pic here too

My very first car, a Ford Fiesta, faded yellow with a blue hatch and bondo spots, WOOT! A drunk asshat hit me broadside as I pulled out from a stop. They had to cut the roof off and then cut the car in half to get me out.

I was coming home from a friend's house after studying or something. It was around 9:30PM on a school night. I had my school books in my backpack in the passenger seat.

I had a fractured pelvis and two stiched cuts, one on my cheek that went all the way through and one above my eyebrow. In the hospital for a week straight, then on crutches for a couple more at home, then a good two months until full recovery. I still have the scars on my cheek and eyebrow though.

I got blamed for that even though the guy who hit me was a notorious drunk, drug addict, and general dirtbag. He had to have been speeding too. All of this was never investigated though because the first officer on the scene just happened to be the guy's friend. We found all of this out a long while after the accident. The prick was never given a blood test for anything.

I still have a vicious dislike for cops to this day because of that too.

I was heading home in my 93 347 LX hatch on October 26, 2001. It was a friday and I had just got off work early, and the day was going great. I decided to take the long way home and enjoy the ride. I had just got my rearend redone and built with all new enternals (31 splines, auburn diff, 373) all of which was brand new.

I was driving the car tring to finish breaking the rear in so I could get on it. I only had about 150 more miles to put on it before it was play time. The whole rear end was like four days old, and I was looking forward to letting my beast loose.

I decided to wind it out alittle, not powershifting, but just driving normal winding it out in every gear. I was doing about 80 going down the hill, and the road had a curve that went uphill to the left. After I went up the hill the road flattened out, and there was a mini van (Aerostar) waiting to turn left into a driveway. I got on the brakes hard and steered to the right. I ended up catching the right rear of the mini van with the drivers side front of my Stang. It hit on the driver's side parklight of my car.

My car spun around and landed on the side of the road in the grass. It bucked the top in front of the sunroof and bent the floorpan up so much that I couldn't push the clutch in far enough to start it back up after pressing the fuel reset switch in the hatch! The front end was trashed, and my car was toast. The only thing that saved me was the subframes I had put on there about eight months before that. The car would've buckled alot more if it hadn't been for the subframes.

The woman in the mini van was ok, but ended up suing my insurance company. A couple of my friends drove by and stopped to see if I was alright. They thought I was dead from looking at my car. We ended up waiting for like an hour for the State Trooper to show up. Man, that was a very bad day!

Worst wreck...sure I'll join in on this.

I was being a squid on a 1987 Kawasaki Ninja 1000R...not impressive now but that thing was built and had around 145 at the rear wheel. I thought I was the shiznit, I had a superbike in college.

I was weaving in and out of traffic coming from Augusta mall on wrightsboro road on Friday November 13 1992. I saw a new (at the time) 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis turning left in front of me...no surprise if you ride, this is how most bikers get killed. I accelerated and tried to make it by the Merc, but didn't make it. I caught the front bumper and was thrown several hundred feet (estimated speed at the time of the wreck was 120 plus after forensic examination of the speedometer). I came to rest in the parking lot of the local heavenly hams. All I remember was a loud BANG and then coming to lying in the parking lot, seeing a bunch of feet and cars driving by super slowly. I pass out and the next thing I remember is waking up in the ambulance, we go over a bump and I scream out in pain since I'm on a spine board and I pass out again. I wake up again in the ER just long enough to sign paperwork, then pass out again from the pain. I wake up again in the MRI, they ask me to put my arms above my head for a better scan, I do this for as long as I am able and then pass out again (this time I heard one of the techs say "he's out again" before I go completely black). Next time I wake up I'm going into the OR, I say "you guys better do a good job" to some people that look like they're wearing space suits. The next several weeks is a blur, about all I remember is coming home and reading a basket full of cards that people sent that knew my family. I still have little things that bug me from time to time, but I'm just glad to be alive.

Final verdict: closed head injury, brief loss of consciousness (feared diffuse axonal injury until I regained consciousness), broken vertabrae (C6 in particular through the lamina which would have rendered me a quadraplegic, other fractures which were just spinal process cracks), contusion of lungs, liver, kidneys, contusion of spleen which they were unable to save/splenectomy, dislocation of shoulder, hip, and ankle on my left side, abrasions on my back, nerve damage to my left hand that has never healed but is manageable, massive soft tissue loss from my left thigh, traumatic open dislocation of my left knee (the hood sliced it open on the way by and the bumper twisted my foot 180 degrees, tearing my knee open), open fractures of my tibia and fibula on my left leg, and burst the left side of my foot open on the footpeg mount.

Needless to say I'm a walking miracle...no problems at all really. I even still throw a leg over...nothing like getting back on the horse that threw you. The big difference between then and now is that I no longer ride like I did then...like I was invincible. It took me around 8 years to fully recover, but now I feel like every day I get up in the morning is gravy...I've been given a new lease on life, let me tell you.
