car alarm?

this is my roommates cobra, who is currently deployed. 98 svt

went out to start the car and the alarm went off (using the key that has started it many times before), tried to start car battery was dead.

now the right front blinker is flashing very fast, and the theft light is flashing, the car will start, but that continues to happen.

how do i stop this? i tried disconnecting the battery for a while but it went right back to doing it when i reconnected the battery.

i've tried lock/unlocking the door both with the switch, and with the key, and tried cyling the key

help!

Not sure if this would help, but if you have the spare key....maybe trying the spare key will work? I've noticed that these keys sometimes get whiped out from memory at times.

ill fix it when i get home man. but i found out doing a search that if you leave the key in the ignition for a certain period of time. and then reconnect the battery, sometimes it clears the key. and considering i only have one key for the car, im gonna have to go through reseting a new key.

You need more than 1 programmed key in order to program another.
You'll need Ford to do it, if that IS the problem.

Does the keyfob work correctly?

keyfob??? u mean like the lock/unlock buttons? it doesnt have one i dont believe.

everything WORKS fine, except it says alarm and the right blinker flashes, which kills the battery

How quickly is the theft light flashing when you turn the key over?
Is it flashing VERY fast?

the theft light flashes almost twice a second


today the horn started beepin when i turned the key to on.

there should be an overide switch, (possibley on the drivers kick pannel), If you hold that in while turning the key it will overide the alarm. Most alarms have this switch, just in case they loose the key fob. Also, you can try reprograming the keys...

Look under the dash, and see if there is a valet switch. All the syptoms sound like an aftermarket alarm.
I've sen a few cobras on here with aftermarket, dealer installed alarms.

looked under dash, both pass/driver side kickpanels, in trunk, etc. for a switch. no luck :-(
