cant get pinion nut to tighten

im putting an 8.8 rear end in my 3.8 and i just bought brand new 3.73's from ford. i have done a few sets of gears before but i cant get this pinion nut to tighten all th way down!! the pinion slides back and forth a bit and i know it needs to get tightened down a little more. any ideas or tricks or anything... this is killing me and i have to have it done soon!

Did you put the crush sleeve in there?

yeah... the new one from ford. i have a 600 ft lb impact and its not budging. so idea. i think i might try to use and old crush sleve

The only other thing I can think of is if the bearing are seated right.

That's what was going to say, try the old crush sleeve and see if they are the same.
