Cannot get timing chain cover off

I have gotten the water pump off and every single bolt holding both the pump and the chain cover(yes the 4 bolts on the bottom of the oil pan too) plus 2 more bolts to the oil pan. I have then hit it with a mallet and yanked on it for almost 2 hours now and all that is free is a little bit of the top of it, the bottom just kinda wiggles around. I need this thing OFF :cuss:!
A friend told me the dowel pins may still be holding it on and if so how do i free them up.

Same exact thing happened to me, but all i used was a flathead screwdriver on the bottom and just carefully put it between the block and timing cover then pried it right off came off fairly easy ..
