if by "road racing" you mean autocrossing/open track events, go with what you have now. run on the track a few times, then decide what you wish to change. no sense throwing money at a car when you dont even know what you want.
I highly recommend taking a few on-track driving schools and learning to drive what you have with proficiency before changing anything.
if you really do mean road racing, then you need to read the rules for your sanctioning body. what class you wish to run in ultimately decides what modifications are allowed.
start with braided stainless brake hoses and some decent brake pads.
