I might get some new tires for the front and wanted to know if I can run 255/40/17 on the stock 9" rim? They have 275s on at the moment. If so are there any disadvantages or advantages to running a smaller tire in the front?

O one more thing. Is there any way to get cupping out of a tire? I was thinking about putting the cupped tires on the back and just burning them up for a min, would that help?

Thanks

Mike

When i got my car someone had put 245/45/17 on it and it looked awful. rim stuck out a good 1/4 inch past the tire. so 255s will fit but, +1 on just staying with 275s

Buy a 255-45-R17 tire with a rim guard. Here's why:

The 2007 GT500 runs 18X9.5" all the way aroundwith a 255-45-R18 Goodyear Eagle F1 tire. It comes with a rim guard so you will no rash the rim and it also makes the tire look a tad wider and not stretched.
