Are the streets serviced by the city (are their city speed limit signs)? If yes you can get a ticket but you should have a good case in court either way. Take it to court for sure.

If you are in a gated community that has no agreement with the police to enforce traffic laws in that community the answer is no he can not ticket you. But, if in your state reckless driving is a criminal matter (which it often is) then he can ticket you!
You are Correct in Jersey you can write for reckless also leaving the scene of an accident faliure to report and no insurance. However regular traffic enforcement does not apply parking does if it blocks the road for emergency vehicles. You know what I say write and let them come to court it will get dismissed but they will spend 4-6 hrs waiting to be heard by the judge. Guilty pleas go last. Oh and don't make the mistake of thinking private and quasi-public are the same.

As I expected, the story now changes completely- bottom line is; no matter what state or in what gated community, if the police are summoned to investigate an issue they will not leave simply because you or your friends or anyone else tells them to leave.
I was at a house and the cops showed up but left shortly thereafter because someone told them to leave, how is that any different than what I depicted earlier? :rollseyes I guess you just owned me man, I better roll out the white flag

What you said was this
the cops might show up and we just tell them to go away

WE!!!!

And again that is bullshit, if the officer is investigating a complaint or has reason to believe a crime is being committed he isnt going to leave because some kid tells him to :nono:

Here, those types of offenses can be charged on private property, much like DUI.

I have no idea why the cops left and I don't really care either  I must have been trying to inflate my internet-ego by saying WE and being so tough to tell a cop to leave through an intercom over 100 yards away from the house, man I scare myself sometimes I'm so gangster. I NEVER said a cop has no ability to do his job under any circumstance because that is bullshit, just like the fact that you guys can't believe that a leo left a house after responding to a complaint. Why is that so hard to believe? I guess it must have been a mall security guard or some other form of enforcement with notably less power than a full-fledged police officer cuz appearantly there is no way in hell that what I stated in my earlier posts had any truth whatsoever. Sorry for trolling into the donut shop and trying to help the post's author out. Good luck with your ticket man, I hope you settle the matter in a just and civil manner

Each city may be different with regards to this item.
