C5 Z06 v. GT 500?

What would the outcome be of a C5 Z06 v. a GT 500, assuming they're both stock. I've been reading that stock C6's have been beating them, and I know the C5 Z is a tad faster or about the same as the C6. Does that mean I can beat a GT 500? I just assumed that a 500hp car would beat a 405hp car even with a weight and aerodynamic differance. I know on a road course I should have no problem, but on a straight away? I've seen a few GT 500's around and I'm wondering if I have a chance. :shrug:

they are neck and neck in acceleration tests~ in the end I think the vette is the overall better performer stock vs stock... just costs more and is less functional (not as much room)... and cost = when they are selling for what they should be.

Here are some of the top posted times for the C5Z. Obviously driver, track and conditions play a role and not everyone will run these times. IMO, the C5Z is a bit quicker than a stock C6 (thats regular C6).

well on paper the c6 is a tad quicker than the gt500, and the z06 is a tad quicker than the c6, so that = z06 ftw. but thats all on paper

that is correct the winner will be the better driver. both the gt500 and c6 are low 12 sec cars. the 03 z is a high 11 sec car. so yes the z is a little faster than both the c6 and gt500.

When you have a legit 750+ lb difference, you eat up that 95 hp advantage real quick.

its more than the power to weight ratio. just based on manufacturers ratings this is what you get. 3100/405~7.65, 3850/500~7.7. now is that extra .05(or less than 5 crank hp) really enough to make the c5 z .3-.4 faster in the 1/4 mile?

the biggest difference to me is the engineering and design that goes with a body on frame car which makes the vette so much more effecient to get the power to the ground. :beer:

I meant in comparison to the Corvette. Ford has a weight problem. Maybe they should enlist Jake from Body by Jake for some weight loss advice. But I shouldn't have this problem much longer so I will be writing down my jokes until then.:-D
