buying a car with missfires? what could it be?

i am looking at this 04 cobra that has a missfire and the owner basically told me he was driving it one day and the vacuum seal came off, he said he put it back on but from there on the car would bog down.. (it does have canned tune but he said it was running fine with canned tune before the problem) what could it possibly be? he said the #8 cylinder showed 0 on compression (he thinks it's rings) could that be it?


(could i unplug the injector or something and just run on 7 cylinders until i get it fixed?)

Zero is usually valve. You have to take the head off or scope it.. Something like that. Oh, almost forgot - how much?
