Thanks for the heads up Brad. Hadn't seen this thread. Okay, as someone who lives in this classic/Terminator ownership world (as does @Bdubbs) my situation was a little different than yours @ZiaRunner. I purchased my classic in 1989. I purchased my Terminator in 2007. I restored my classic to a drivable level in 2010 (took a long time to start because I was in the military and stationed in different locations while my classic sat at my parents house). I blew the motor in my classic in 2015 and went all out on my classic in 2020 (Due to COVID. Had nothing else to do LOL). I have a build thread here in the classic Mustang section if you want to check it out. Now, you have the 68 but it isn't drivable and you need to restore it. The funds you have are to be utilized to either restore the 68 or buy a Terminator....... In my opinion, if your ultimate goal is to own both, then use your current funds to buy a Terminator. The reason I say that is in most cases, not all, if you use your funds to restore the 68 now then later on......due to time, money, Terminator availability/cost, life, family and other things that will get in the way, you will probably never get your Terminator. If you buy a Terminator now then your 68 will be in your possession and you can rebuild it as your time and funds permit. AND you will have both... Another reason I say buy a Terminator is because you mentioned you will be doing most of the disassembly and reassembly yourself. If that is the case your time and labor doesn't cost you a penny (well, except for materials/things you need such as sand paper or tools). So, when your not out driving your Terminator you can be in the garage taking your 68 apart. You can be sanding the body panels or scrapping all the grease or dirt off the bottom of your under carriage, you can be fixing rust holes, you can be learning a new skill (i.e. welding, body work, automotive painting, engine assembly, etc.) by watching YouTube or searching Google. You can be pulling your engine and transmission out. There is so much you can do to your 68 simply by putting your own elbow grease in to it AND you will have your Terminator to drive to boot. As you seen by the timeline I posted above, Rome wasn't built in a day and the ability to have a nice Terminator AND a nice 68 is going to take time if you don't have the funds to buy both outright. Or you can just dump all your eggs in one basket and go all out on ONE car. As you can see I prefer the time and Classic/Terminator approach. Good luck to you and your choice. I believe you can have both, but you will have to have patience, a plan and stay the course. As @01yellercobra mentioned, when people see their old Mustang sitting in the garage and in pieces it's easy to lose interest/desire. So, that is a pitfall with my plan/path. Good luck my friend and please let us know what direction you go in......
