At a guess, your crank was too tight against the thrust washer, and it peeled apart like that. Gee whiz.

I inspected the crank where the crank meets the washer and you can tell it peeled away the inside of the crank lobe.

I'm wondering if a machine shop can fix this and use and an over-size washer? Or does the crank need to be deep sixed?

I also noticed that shavings/particles have ruined some of the main bearings causing pitting inside them.

Anyone else ever seen this happen??

These problems are usually caused by a modified transmission or converter on the 5.4's , it is caused from excessive pressure being applied to the rear of the crank and is very common.

Saw the thread on LR man, that sucks.

Think I might have the same issue, hearing a weird noise close to that, :fm:.

Losing my interest in this truck.

I feel your pain. I've been through this two other times. Hopefully the third times the charm.

Curious... What converter are your using? Are you using Manny's converter? I was about to order one from him but I'm weighing my options.

Yeah..This time I'm sending it to JDM to be put together/rebuilt. I talked to Jim today and I'm gona go with a new block along with a rebuild kit for the entire motor. Bisically, start over and sell what I don't need. I will bring up the notion about a new crank.
