I am wanting to forge the old dear. Here is my dilemma...

Option 1 is to tear down my motor, send heads and short block out, re-assemble. Seems reasonable and seems least expensive. Only issue is down time that the motor is out of the car. Could be an issue with delays in getting parts that were shipped out, back timely.

Option 2 was suggested by a buddy. Get a Cobra Teksid (for the crank), possibly short block, rebuild in stages. When ready, slap on heads, intake and accessories and pop in car over a weekend.

Option 2 seems like the way to go, but a Teksid shortblock (with forged crank) for cheap seems to be a unicorn. Plenty of places selling a ready to go short block for a few thousand. My buddy was thinking they (the Cobra shortblocks) would be available like SBFs are for a few hundred $ (less heads and intake). I am now thinking these do not exist after a bit of searching.

Thoughts?
Chris
