I've been putting together a vortech v1 kit since Christmas, I'm only a fuel pump and injectors away. I'd like to get 450-500 HP at the wheel.
But, now I'm thinking about getting some forged pistons and rods.
I'm trying to do this pretty cheap. Well, cheap within reason as I know you get what you pay for.
I believe my options are;
03-04 pistons and rods--- probably the least expensive way to go.
Cruise the market for pistons and rods?
Or lightning pistons with a coyote rod?

Idk, I'm completely new to forged internals and forced induction.
What do y'all think I should go with.
Or does anyone have the parts I need?

I think you need to save your money and wait for when you don't have to try to do it cheaply.

Mahle pistons with file fit rings and Manley rods. Done.

Grab used 03/04 rods but you will probably have to spend the money on a new set of forged pistons to get a good CR ratio for that blower.
