Borla XR-1 question

Are the Borla XR-1 mufflers exactly like the Stingers and can you weld them into the existing catback of a 96 Mustang GT or do you need custom tubing?

I think stingers are more of a resonator like the SLP loudmouth than an actual muffler, but I could be wrong.
