What does the boost bypass kit actually do? I can only think of two things:
1. allow the blower to create pressure sooner
2. raise the maximum pressure

Can someone clear this up for me please?

It eliminates the boost bleed-off at high RPM's. Basically it allows the boost pressure to remain consistent.

Okay, then I don't understand how this improves performance. Does this thing [whatever we're bypassing] function like a wastgate? ...or is it something completely different?

Also, you mention consistent? Is boost fluctuating THAT much?

if you watch your boost gage as the rpm's get higher you will see the boost drop off, the kit stops that from happening and keeps the boost at a steady 8 psi as the rpm's go up

As I understand it on a stock car, boost only comes on when you're accelerating and putting the engine under load.

With this "boost by pass" mod, you'll be seeing boost at all range of RPM and even when crusing. Is this correct? If so, I'm assuming this may have an impact on the longetivity of the engine as well as MPG degrading? Can someone comment on this?
