Traded my F800R in and grabbed this from the BMW dealership a week ago. The wife and I wound up riding to the mountains in North Central NM last Sunday. Had a blast despite getting rained on. We dried off in another 30 minutes after hitting sunshine again and 90 degree temps as we moved south. This bike has so much power.

Nice love the R's, if I decide to get a different bike it will probably be the s1000r.

Is that vales caldera outside the jemez? Used to live in los alamos and go cruising up there all the time. Great look bike in some gorgeous roads.

I was close to buying the exact bike and color but loved the double R too much so bought it. Ride safe

It sure is haha. I wanted to ride to Eagles Nest or the Rio Grande Gorge from Santa Fe but I think Los Alamos was about the wife's limits on that pillion seat. Rain clouds popped up by Bandelier but we were completely dry again by the time we hit Jemez Springs.

This bike has several modes including a rain mode which dials back the power and softens the throttle response. It helped in this situation and when we hit some construction where they scraped off all the asphalt to prepare to repave and there wasn't much grip to be had.

Do it. The seating position is pretty nice and the seat is surprisingly comfy for a sporty bike. This bike has cruise control, quickshifter, heated grips, 4 power/traction control modes, 3 separate suspension modes, and dynamic suspension that tightens up if it senses you getting balls deep in a corner. I am loving it. I thought about a Tuono or Z1000 but the former has no dealer here and the latter was way too unequipped for being fairly close to this in price. Only thing I wish this did have was the quickshifter pro from the '15 S1000RR that allows clutchless downshifts. That would be awesome.

Right on man. I like the RR too but I can't ride a supersport with this back. Even the R makes my upper back catch on fire if I ride in a certain position. Think I have a nerve cluster that gets rubbed by my shoulderblade cause even doing the dishes makes it feel like some keebler elves are starting a campfire on that area.

I do like that they underrated this bike. It is rated at 160hp but puts down close to the same numbers on a dyno that the Tuono and Superduke are which are rated at 170ish and 180ish respectively.

It's quite a treat to ride. Burbling around in soft it feels all loose but as soon as you tip it over a bit it instantly turns into a firmed up guided missile. I can only imagine how the RR with dynamic suspension feels.
