Im planning on buying a set of these in a 275/40/17. Will these fit on a stock 17x8 wheel? Also with the mods in my sig will these be able to get me traction at the track or do i need a better tire? Anyone have any suggestions on where to buy these from?

yeah but you wont get the full foot print of the tire on a 17x8 with a 275-40-17. it will work but a 17x9 would be ideal.

It'll be fine. A Mickey T Dr will hook better, but the BFG's ain't bad.

+1 I am running 275/35 18 BFG on my 9.5" rim. I could have fit the 295's but the tire would start lifting at the edges. No sense in spending more on the tires for a wider width if it isn't going to help.

Yup. I got arond 4K out of my last set. 80% of that was snow and really cold pavement which totally destroys them.

its actually the height of the sidewall that makes a dr/et street/slick hook

Radial tires don't have that soft sidewall the slicks have and don't give on the launch. They have a stickier tread than a regular street tire, but the sidewalls don't matter like they do on a slick.

um, well the sidewalls may not be wrinkle wall soft like on slicks, but i will tell you the sidewalls on my MT 315's are a ton softer than my regular front tires....

Roger, I won't argue with your experiences, but it goes against anything I've read on them lol

i had 275/40 17 BFG DR's on 17x9 03 cobra wheels, and they bulged a pretty good amount...it would be bulging pretty bad on the 17x8 wheel....the BFG DR's run really wide, the 275/40's i had were about as wide as the 315/35 Nitto DR's that I replaced them with...
