Just like the title says, what is your opinion of the BEST & WORST Inventions of mankind? If you disagree with me or another poster please keep it civil. Here's mine. Discuss...

Best: The Printing Press. It gave birth to the age of knowledge. Before it, only the wealthy were educated. It made men more equal and more capable of bettering themselves.

Worst: The Atomic Bomb. While it was a truly amazing invention, the world was forever changed and now any madman with the financial resources could pose a legitimate threat to the rest of the world.

I dont think the atomic bomb was a bad invention, it was an inevitable one, considering that had we not been first with it, someone else would have. Once the knowledge of splitting atoms was there the weaponized version was going to follow sooner or later. Just the same time we figure out how to harness matter and antimatter we will have also figured out how to make antimatter weapons. If it werent for nuclear weapons long-term effects wed likely see them dropped way more often than not.

Mechanical refrigeration systems. With out it cold beer would be a rarity on a hot summer's day. Sleeping in comfort on a sweltering night is possible thanks to air conditioning. Big buildings would be unbearable in the summer. We can ship food products across the country and around the world because of it. Thanks Willis Carrier!
