So if they fail they fail open and you don't pop the motor.

Just buy an OEM ford replacement. Should be less than $5 bucks.

That is what I am going to do. The temp needle has been moving around a lot and during traffic, it goes a little over the middle / ... weird. Hope nothing else needs to be replaced ... coolant has been flushed numerous times.

Yup. Been in every car I've ever owned.

Question - is it normal for the temp needle to go beyond half sometimes? Mine keeps doing that even after changing it ... also changed the coolant.
