So I'm at cecil county dragway today trying to get some runs in. I get my first pass against a guy with a 16 second civic, and I run 11.9 straight off the highway with no cooldown so I'm happy.

The next run I get up next to this serious looking late 70s camaro with huge slicks out back and...you know the type. I stage up, and start bouncing my revs around in preparation for getting up on the 2 step, and the camaro stages. Light starts counting down and I'm sitting on 6500rpm and about 12psi on the 2 step. I get my launch and cut a decent light, with a decent 60 foot.

The part that suprises me is the Camaro isn't flying past me....he's right at my door and it's the only race at the strip that I've got like this. I flat foot shift the 2-3 and I'm actually pulling about a fender by the time I shift to 4th. 4th gear is my "woah nelly" gear, for some reason when I hit 4th I start picking up like you wouldn't believe and I start really pulling hard on this guy.

By this time I'm going apeshit in my car screaming "YEAH YEAH" cause I know I got a solid 11 second run under my belt.

The best part of this story is the time slip which I'm going to put up here for you guys to see how freaking close this race was to the 1/8th

.......Camaro...............Evo

Nice run. I guess that Maro didn't have too much done to the motor, although late 70's early 80's where the dark days. 6.6 litre Poncho's with only 185bhp from the factory :nono:

There is one thing that surpsrises me, although your ET and trap are impressive I was quite astonished to scroll down and see you claiming well over 400HP to wheels. Meaning you are knocking on the door of 450-500bhp at the motor, I would have thought it should be much faster than 11.9 at 118mph. Damn a well drive C5 Z06 will do that with less grip similar weight and only 405bhp at the motor.

I've never really studied Evo's for drag work, but that seems like a lot of HP with great off the line traction for pretty poor times. There are cam only Fbody's weighing more with like 420rwhp running 120+ traps and low/mid 11's.

But hay maybe I'm just not up on the Evo's at the 1320???

Nice race anyhow. :)

Are you on the stock motor still? If so those numbers are very impressive.

I dunno the car looked serious, and it went low 12 so it was a decently fast camaro IMO.

I'm still on the stock motor and I'm forever looking to change things to go faster. I think the ET's should be in the 11.4 range but I fight keeping the nose of the car up, I need to shift faster.

That is your new best? Good times.

The Camaro picked up a 12.33 at 107.7 MPH. Makes me think if I get a solid rear I should be able to get well into the low 12's with my current HP as I trap 111mph.

Yeah that's my new best, I need to shift faster and lower those ET's. It's killing me, I know the car has a lot more in it, I just need to keep working on it.
