Hey guys, unfortunate day. My 12k mile 03 has a blown head gasket

Thus the car will be sitting for awhile as I don’t have the funds to fix atm.

Question is what’s the best indoor car cover to keep protected while it sits.

Thanks for any info given.

Chris.

This doesnt make sense. Head cover gaskets are what 50 dollhairs, good car cover 100 to 200 dollhairs. And what does it take like 4 to 6 hours to do that job. Shorter if you have a real shop.

Hmm well I was quoted at hi end 7k for the job, 26 hrs of labor. Which is why I was planning on parking the car for awhile to save these funds.

Sounds like rape and pillage to me, no way a head gasket should take 26 hours. Even @ 150.00 an hour that’s 3900 in labour, where do they get the 3k in parts?

Good question. I’ve used this shop before, and this repair is beyond anything I’m capable of. I think I need to call around.

No milkshake oil or white smoke. Car is overheating and coolant spewing out from under engine coolant cap.

Car coming home Friday and I can figure out course of action.
Happy to get opinions from you all.

Thank you.

Start with compression and leak down tests, at least that will tell you which cylinders are affected. If you aren’t confident in doing the repair yourself I would for sure be calling around to find a more reasonable price, willing to bet your local Ford dealer would be able to do it for less
