I appreciate the low maintenance and the look, but I honestly enjoy (rider) mowing once a week for 1.5 hrs March-October. Its a great way to have some time to myself with good music in my ear and a cold beer. I also have a pool so I usually jump in when I finish to cool off its its hot. If I get too old to enjoy it anymore I will either pay someone or downsize the house and yard. Warm months I spend in the yard and cooler months in the shop working on car projects.
If I had a place big enough to have a riding mower I wouldn’t have done this. But my lot is not that big. That tree shades so much of the front yard and sux up the majority of water I put down so I had very little grass left and just about anything i put in it’s place would have died as well. So the plants i had put in are all drought resistant and do well in shade or sun. I am having most of what’s left on the side done the end of this week.
