Doing some finance homework and part of the question led into this problem, yet I can figure it out

$30.85 = D/1.15 + D/1.15^2

somehow D = $18.98 according to the answers but I am can't for the life of me figure out how to solve for D, can someone walk me though it please?

Thanks!

Nevermind, just got it, i feel stupid now! Multiply the entire thing by 1.15^2, cancel out and solve, much easier than I thought
