Bad belt tensioner?

Wow, this is some really good info in here. Thanks guys. Ill pull the head unit off again and check all the possible leads and get back to you with the results. I really appreciate you guys help.:thumbsup:

wow, did you ever need to get the head unit rebuilt?

Actually no. I had to replace the seal where the main pulley is when a piece of broken belt got up in there and wound. I pulled the unit apart to replace the seal and was kind of shocked (in a good way) that there was no visible wear on the gears and bearing were all nice and solid. I think the old fashioned oil fed blower set up is a good design.
