Bad alternator symptoms

Went out yesterday to parts store for a new bosh scanner to work on our tundra..dash is lit like a Christmas tree..

While pulling out the cobra freaked out.

All gages swept,all lights on dash came on,and radio went out..

I stopped..checked volts at battery..read 14.1-14.4

When driving it's all over the place..

Using radar detector as volt meter..it will flash low volts at 11.9

When it drop's below 12v radio shuts off than back on..

When it drops below 11v car shuts off and gages sweep..

I had the last 2 alts go bad..they both caused radio issue 1st than died completely. .

I picked up replacement last night. .will install when sun comes up..


Will update to confirm it was an alt issue of other..

2003 Cobra? Alternator problems?!? Never heard of such a thing.

Just got done on mine..sadly alt wasn't issue..

Issue was ground from battery to radiator support..

This is 2nd time..

Wire was broken inside..I yank harder than wiggle test and it broke off..

Ran new jumper..car is fine

At least I got a new alt in now..it had a lot of miles on it and was a orielys auto parts lifetime replacement

Could possibly be loose battery terminals happened to me before... gauges swept and everything was shutting off intermittent
