Has anyone here replaced their rear axle seals on a 2011+ explorer? I have a '13 explorer with leaking seals. Book time is 2.8 hours. Thinking of tackling it myself instead of paying $400.

One thing in particular I'm looking to figure out is if the axles use c-clips which would require me pulling the diff cover.

Axles will have circlip style retainers like any other c.v shaft. Pry on them a bit, they will pop out. Worst part of that job is taking the knuckle off to get the other end out of the bearing. You take the caliper off, shock bolt out of the bottom, top control arm bolt, toe link and lateral bar. Take lower control arm bolt loose, and pivot the knuckle away from the shaft.
