assistance removing steering wheel accents

Well other than disconnecting the battery for the air bag the internet has not helped me
My goal is to remove the 3 spokes on the steering wheel for some slight modifications.

I need some guidence on removing the center piece of the steering wheel whothout breaking it. Apparently it does not just pull out

2 bolts on the sides behind plastic plugs. Then pull the air bag and disconnect wiring. 1 center bolt holds the wheel, pull the bolt and yank the wheel at you and it's off.

They do pull off. Mine were a huge pain to get off take your time. Mine were very difficult to remove. There wasn't enough room to pull with your fingers and tools can easily scratch and bend the covers.
