Duh, I forgot about F1. Last F1 race I went to was Monaco 2018, I get what the F1 experience it. This is the BEST venue in the US for this event. Nothing wrong with Miami and COTA, but using the strip, and taking over Vegas? How "American" can you get? Hell yeah.... Im sure we will go at some point, but not this year, too nuts for the inaugural event. Lastly what a WILD start time for the race, 1am PDT, to cater to the world TV audience. Party on Garth.

Actually thinking the race will bring a different kind of person to Vegas. Our typical visitors seem to be getting worse and worse. Yuck!

As far as the A’s go, Oakland is not the place for them. They draw less fans than a high school musical. Hopefully they end up here in Vegas.

Nope.

Vegas is about what you do when you're awake. If you have enough fun.. It wont matter where you fall asleep.

Decent safe room... if it's got a bed its good enough.
If that were true you wouldn't have the numerous and more expensive mega resorts that are there. You're obviously not aware of the different reasons and desired experiences of people who go there.

Except I lived there lol.

People visit to show off. I get it.... but again.. 95% of my fun wasn't in a room. Thats just the after party.

But yes... the guy who lived the party lifestyle WHILE living in Vegas " obviously" isn't aware why people go to Vegas lmao

Sports have completely changed our economy in Vegas. Not only the Knights and Raiders, but we have the 2024 Super Bowl and 2028 Final Four. We also just had the Sweet 16. And the biggest, most expensive sport coming? F1! It will make the Super Bowl look like a middle school event. This shit is gonna be nuts. Corporations and people are shelling out hundreds of thousands to reserve space along the track. F1 Vegas may end up being the biggest international sporting event the country has ever seen.

That Sweet 16 turned into a mess for UConn. The NCAA booked them in The Luxor and the team refused to stay there when they checked in because it was such a dump. And then when they were practicing at UNLV people broke into their team bus and stole a bunch of their things. Viva Las Vegas!

Who said anything about staying in your room all day and night?
It was about the niceities offered by the mega resorts. Many who go to Vegas have no interest in staying out all night and partying and have no interest in showing off anything.

Pool side parties are where it's at. :)

My understanding from some of my colleagues is that UConn's rooms at the Luxor were not turned over by housekeeping and SEVERAL had dried up vomit present. LOL Hey, that's free of charge! The issue at UNLV is a bit of a mystery. We haven't heard anything about it since the day it happened.

I'd wager that the pool water at the day clubs is about as clean as raw sewage. Not to mention the fact that many have become sausage fests (I've never been to one and don't plan to; I'm a local and 47 years old).

I've had people come to town and the rooms are decent at mid-level properties like Caesars, Mirage, etc. but there is a lot of inconsistency. You could end up with a decent room or you could end up with something that is less-than-ideal. And although most people don't spend much time in their rooms, the upscale resorts are just nicer (rooms, amenities, clientele, decor, etc.).

I've never gone in the water. I chilled at the poolside bar, and enjoyed the view

A few years ago I took a staycation at the Four Seasons inside Mandala Bay. Private pool for the Four Seasons but you still had access to the Mandalay pools and lazy river. I stayed with the private pool and it was nice and empty. My parents stayed at Bellagio one year and we went to the pools there and it was nice with adults only pool and one for the kids. But a lot of the other casino pools are like you said and I would not venture in.

We did a staycation at Mandalay Bay about 5 years ago when our kids were younger. We did the lazy river and wave pool as well as the regular pools. Everything was fine. I've seen videos and pictures of the day club pools and they are crowded with men and the water is gross. No thanks.

I can officially say you're the first person I've ever known to go on staycation in Vegas...

........... to be alone.

Some of those pools get so crowded it's unbelievable. There were some people earlier this year who contracted Legionnaire's from The Orleans, although I don't think it was from a pool. Health officials investigating cases of Legionnaires’ disease at Las Vegas resort

Looks like Las Vegas gets another pro team. A's might have games with less than 1,000 fans in the seats this season.

The Athletics are closing in on an agreement for a new baseball stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to the Nevada Independent. The total cost of the project is said to be around $1 billion.

The proposed stadium would be built north of Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders. This deal has the backing of Governor Joe Lombardo and top lawmakers in the city.

Las Vegas taxpayers are likely sweating over the news but fear not. This deal calls for the Athletics to cover the costs for this stadium, including the purchase of the land from Red Rock Resorts.

It's going to be at the intersection of Tropicana and I-15. Right where the old Wild West Hotel/Casino/truck stop/whore hangout used to be.

All that's missing now in Vegas is an NBA team.
I feel like before 2030 Vegas and Seattle will get NBA teams

must suck to be Oakland, can't hang onto shit

also, I thought Bellagio sucked, shit is old and over priced (maybe the suites are nice or something).

I looked it up, Oakland is bringing up the rear in average fan counts for the season at 11,000.

LA and SD are 1 (almost 50K) and 2, SF is 10th.

I guess even if you have to step over a junkie who just shit on the sidewalk, people would still rather watch the Giants play than the A's.
