are ford and gm t56 different?

besides the bellhousings what are the differences in a t56 for a cobra and a t56 from a 97 camaro? Im wondering how much work would be involved.

A lot. The short answer is, more money need to convert than to get a proper T56 for the cobra.

Input shaft, hydraulic actuated(GM) / Cable actuated(Ford), tail shaft, and bell housing. Those are just a few but I doubt you could do it for less than buying a built T-56 for your Cobra.

I'm pretty sure the gearings different in them. A Fbody has some pretty tall overdrives compared to a Cobras overdrives. I think thats right anyways.

Cobra 2003-2004 1st 2.66 2nd 1.78 3rd 1.30 4th 1.00 5th 0.80 6th 0.63
