I just purchased a 91 GT for my son, this car sat for at least 7 years...I know what I need to do to get it running,..changing out the fuel tank, new pump going in, all of the fluids, fogging Oil sprayed in each cylinder, plugs, wires ext..tank and pump will be in this weekend.

I've got a bunch of new parts coming this weekend..

It will not shift out of park.

Break lights come on when brake pedal is pressed, so it's not the switch behind the pedal. I've tried rocking the car to see if that would work.

Anything else I'm missing? I will be getting under the car tomorrow to check the Trans cables and fluid.

Is there a brake solenoid in these things? If so where is it located?

Or is this something that might work after I get it running and fluids get pushed where they need to be?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Does the shifter even move?

I’m not familiar with that system but it’s likely a simple cable to a lever on the side of the trans.

I’d disconnect the cable at the trans and see if the cable won’t move or if the lever is frozen.

91-93 cars do have a shiftlock solenoid.

The solenoid is located on the steering column on the underside and connects a cable to the shifter assembly. I’ll see if I can get a wiring diagram

I figured it out, the thumb press wasn't engaging the mechanism to release when shifting, so I cut the head off of a.bolt that would slid down the shift pole, and trimmed the plastic insert that was in there, works great now..

So I'm able to shift, but the rear wheels still seem to be locked, I'm not sure if the emergency brake has seized or I have another issue...

I'm hoping to install the new tank and pump tomorrow and get it at least running..
