Anyone using 255/60-15 ET Street radials?

I searched and found a couple old threads about them, but not much. Thinking about trying them on my 2011 GT A6. I currently have some old 255/50-16 M/Ts but I just got some 15x8 Racestars. Best 60' last year was 1.59, only the 2nd time out with my 5C converter. Car just has a couple bolt ons and a Boss manifold. Still using 3.15 gears.

I originally was going to do 275/60s on the 15x8s and go to a 3.31 gear to make up the gear difference so I can still cross at the top of 3rd (~118-119 traps), but I have seen the 275s on the 8" wheels and they stick out a little farther than I like. I was thinking the 255/60s might fit better and work 99% as well, and I could try them with the 3.15s and maybe go to 3.31s.

I googled and some have gone pretty quick on them (mid 9s, with 1.32 60' times) but that's a completely different setup from mine.

Anyone using them?

im actually looking for a pair of 255/60-16 drag radials.
my car is bone stock and I want to get some baseline numbers with sticky tires.
I was going to put them on some 2005 split spoke 16's.

You mean 255/50-16? I haven't seen a 255/60-16. I like the 255/50-16 M/Ts. They work well on this car and they also worked pretty well on my old C5Z (1.64 60' with that car).

There's no reason to not run a 275 on an 8" wheel. I've done it for years with multiple cars. 275s work fine on an 8" wheel.

Get the ET Street Pro 275s and call it a day.

Im with him!!

The 275/60 will work good on a 8 inch wheel

That 255 works good on Fox bodys that have smaller wheel tubs

For sure, man. I don't even think 275s on an 8 inch wheel stick out all that much in terms of pure looks, also. I mean, there's bulge, but who cares if it helps you stick?

So, OP, go 275 for sure. Silly to go with 255s unless you care about the minor bulge.

Thanks for the opinions guys. Sounds like the 275/60 and 3.31 combo will probably be what I end up with.

I guess I kinda figured that with the narrow 8" wheels the contact patch with the 255s would be about the same anyway?

I run a 255/60 and it fits on the 8's very well. If I were to run a 275/60 it would be on a 10" wheel as it will bulge noticeably on an 8" wheel. It'll look as though it sticks out about an inch and doesn't look right.

Got any pics of your setup? How does it work at the track? Thanks.

Who cares if it doesn't "look right?"

You have more tire on the ground and they fit 8" wheels fine. If you're going to be doing car shows instead of racing, I guess it would matter.

I care! Just because I live in the south that doesn't mean I'm a redneck. Maybe you should put some ****ing 33/12.50's on your car, you'll have more tire on the ground... Just so you know at least 1 car I know of has been in the 4's 1/8 mile on a 235/60. If it takes a 275 to hook your car then maybe you don't know how to set a car up.... The 255 is the height I want and works perfect on the street. JMHO, and I don't give a shit about yours! And what does your car run again?
