By no means can I compare to any of these ones y'all have been posting. But september of last year we had the hurricane come thru and wreck a good part of the city. Dad brought over the old generator from my child hood, but the tank died on it and leaked on me. So 12 hours from landfall, I found myself at Lowes buying one of the only Gen's I could find which was a Cat Commercial Contractor grade big daddy unit. I left it in the box hoping I wouldn't need it, but I unfortunately did. Power went out and we were on generator for about 2 1/2 days. I had to assemble that thing by flashlight in the middle of a hurricane, but I did. It fired right up, gave us some life back. About 35-50% load for 2 1/2 days straight, and it used about 12 gallons. Saved all of our food, gave us the ability to watch tv/entertain ourselves, and clean up the debris. It was well worth it. I pulled it out the other day and let it run for about 30 minutes with more fuel treatment in it. It fired up on the first pull and didn't stutter. Never owned anything made by CAT before but i'm impressed. I'll eventually go Generac/Natural gas powered though.
