I have 4.30s and my primary drive is on highways at 70mph.

You'll get used to it. I don't change my oil anymore often than I used to.

I have heard that before as well, but have yet to see it documented anywhere.

I had an LX with a 5.0 that I put 137,000 miles on it with 4.10's the entire time. I just talked to the guy who bought it from me and it's still running strong with the original motor with 260,000 miles on it now (and it still has those 4.10's).

I drive 90 miles a day mostly freeway (roughly 70-80 mph). The difference between 4.10's and 4.30's is about 250 rpm or so.

its true to a minor less than 1% truth.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you wanted 300K out of her then maybe but other than that. Its not worth getting all upset over it.

you're gas mileage should go up too.

Its in the most efficient range of the motor.
Is that really true?!?!? I have 4.30's in my room and that would make me fell alot better.

When I ran up to ohio running 100 which was around 3 grand I got 27 or so MPG. When I convoyed out to tampa doing around 70 I got about 21 mpg. B

Both times on Cruise.

ya but isn't that extra time spent at those high rpm levels the thing that causes the damage. I don't think it would cause much of a problem if you still kept rpms lower 3k for highway cruising. just a thought.

Higher RPM causes damage? No. Accelerated wear? Maybe...though as long as the oiling system is supplying the engine with adequate pressure and clean filtered oil I dont think theres much to worry about. Change the oil regularly, use a quality oil (Mobil1) and filter.

I installedd alot of mods all at once when my T45 broke, so now with my 4.30s I just shift to 6th.

No. I'm pretty sure it would improve based on your cruising speed.

Keep it around 3 grand and you'll see the best.

Thats good to know, I drive 80 with the stock gears and it runs in the same rpm range. :)
